I went through a phase a few years ago... maybe from about 6 years until about
3 years ago... where I built a lot of mecha models. I'm bemused by the fact
that Gundam, specifically, is suddenly so popular, because I always liked the
designs and would seek out Gundam models although to this day I've never seen
an episode.
Anyway, mecha models were always really hard to find because of the limited
number that would be imported to the states. With Gundam Wing being shown on
Cartoon Netwrk, however, and the increased push by the company which
distributes Gundam series animation to capitalise on Wing's popularity to make
it the next big franchise (a la Pokemon), I wouldn't be surprised to see the
Gundam models, toys, etc all over the place. They're going to be a lot more
available now than they were before.
I only wish I were still as interested as I used to be. I'd be having a field
day.

| Not quite on-topic, but I thought it was worth mentioning. My local TRU has a bunch of smallish Gundam model kits for sale @ about $8.00. I know almost nothing about mecha, so I can't give name/style details, but I was surprised to see them at all. (...) (24 years ago, 28-Sep-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)
