Thanks.
First I make an all-white version of the model and then render it with
ldview using settings to make flat colours (as opposed to ones that change
depending on the angle to the viewer) and thick lines. After that its just
a matter of trimming away the white space and layering it all in GIMP (or
PS).
With some time spent on post-editing you can do fun things
like
this.
