Hi all,
Well Ive posted this on some other sites but figured maybe it would be of
interest to people here. Anyway, here is my Christmas Beetle mech, with
luck Ill be able to bring it the the BUGS meeting but well see how my
luggage holds up.

Great design on this mech. I was wondering what technique you use to get
the pencil drawings on your wallpaper?

Hi Jim,
Thanks.
First I make an all-white version of the model and then render it with ldview
using settings to make flat colours (as opposed to ones that change depending on
the angle to the viewer) and thick lines. After that its just a matter of
trimming away the white space and layering it all in GIMP (or PS).
With some time spent on post-editing you can do fun things
like
this.
