Hello all -
I was inspired by a thread over at the LiveJournal LEGO community to set up a
new contest over at Reasonably Clever. Namely:
(Click on the image to be taken to the full contest page)
The idea is fairly simple - take set 7708 (The little $5 Exo-Force Orange Mech)
and trick it out with style.
Entrants will be judged on the following criteria:
Resemblance to Base Model, Pimposity, Theme, and an optional Swimsuit
Competition. (See the site for full details and point breakdown)
Prizes range from a $50 Shop-at-Home gift certificate to free mini-figures.
Entries need to be emailed to me no later than midnight, MARCH 31st, 2006.
Youll want to include a jpg or two of your Mech for the judges to look at, as
well as your name and a preferred email contact. (You can just send a link to a
Brickshelf folder rather than images if youd prefer.) All entrants will be
posted on the contest page for easy review. (Discussion here is encouraged as
well, of course!)
You can enter as many times as you like, and World-wide entries are welcome.
Judging will be by a panel of my local Non-AFOL friends so dont worry about
accepted building styles or current trends - I will however try and explain to
them any sort of theming that they might not get due to lack of hobby
knowledge. This means a stylish entry by a non-Mech-centric builder has as
likely a shot at winning as anyone else. :)
Hopefully this will seem like a fun idea to some of you...Im hoping to see some
very unusual Mechs!
Thanks for reading!
Chris Doyle

| (...) Hi there, Just got this set today (free with my 2nd 7700 set!) and was thinking how cool it would look "pimped" as you put it... I've not built anything new for ages, I might just see what I can make using this comp. as incentive! (19 years ago, 13-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
