Dave got in a fight with the internet and they aren’t talking to each other right now. So I’m posting his entry for him. Here’s the description in his words:

Iron Mecha Entry - January 2006

“My interpretation of the Iron Mecha competition was a bit different than I had originally envisioned. First off, I had already decided on Sand Blue as the main color. Truth be told, this was supposed to be a Sand Blue and White model, but I just did not like how it was turning out. Bryce McGlone suggested Sand Green as the companion color (thinking I was using Dark Blue, not Sand Blue) and the rest fell into place. Relevant info regarding this entry:

1) My first 90+% Sand-colored model 2) Studless by design 3) Certain aspects were purposely exaggerated (knees, torso, arms) 4) Made to look very ‘techie’ until the organic element is exposed 5) Who said that was supposed to be a missle launcher? ;) 6) Fewest number of black parts I’ve ever built with (7-all technic pins). None are visible.

This model was started in my workshop, but finished in a much smaller build area with a very limited number of parts available to me. This is why the lower half looks so much more ‘polished’ than the torso and arms. Also, note that the rear feet are different from the front...I just couldn’t locate the needed parts. D’oh!

-Dave”

(...) <snip> (...) I like it - the colour scheme, aided by the colour profile of my monitor, instantly reminded me of the Armada series of transformers, maybe most specifically the Tidal Wave toy. I think the way you have done the face and shoulders (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Thanks for posting this Bryce. I know how frustrating it is to have internet problems. -snip- (...) Okay, stop the contest!!! Just give Dave the prize... 1 Wow! The fact that this came out of nowhere makes it all the more impressive! The legs (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
