Last night I had a breakthrough with mini robot head design. I was trying
variations of the basic MegaTurtle
and Nova
head design. And I came up with this:
I thought the reversed Grevious head looked pretty cool...but it needed an eye.
I toyed briefly with the idea of trimming a sticker into a sort of cool robot
sunglasses shape, but it would have looked rubbish, My next idea, swiftly
quashed, was to paint on a set of optics. Id backed myself into a corner, and
it looked like Id have to use something other than the Grevious head. A real
shame, as it looked rather cool, I thought.
Just as I was about to give up, inspirado kicked in.
Clikits string! Wrapped twice round the front stud and secured somehow at the
back of the model. I tried it and was amazed to find it actually worked.
If youd like to see more of this technique, there are some pictures here:

I still need to change a few bits on the robot (better feet, nicer shoulders,
some kind of backpack, a splash of colour), but I couldnt resist sharing this
with my buddies in .mecha
Pete

| (...) This looks so cool. You're the small mecha genius. Don't get it wrong, small is the attribute for mecha! It's really hard to do such fantastic looking work at this size! I love your work (URL) Marco> (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
