Let me just start of by saying that I’m blown away.

Bryce, your website is wonderful. It has been years since I have actually
explored a LEGO MOC website, and actually taken the time to go through each
and every page. So give yourself a huge pat on the back, your site is a
success.

What blows me away however, is that I have seen so much of your work before
on BS, and yet I am still going over it again. Your writing is a part of the
reason for this. It is just wonderful to read not only your own LEGO building
“evolution”, for lack of a better term, but also the one that has happened
within LEGO mecha building.

Thanks again. I was kinda debating whether to write anything at all, but like I
said on the site I like when other builder’s write as well.
And yes I too see the parallells within the mecha community’s building and my
building.

Every year or so I go through Karim’s, Vaughan’s, Jeremy’s, Dave Thomas’,
Colin’s, etc. MOCs (what’s left of them on the net anyway), and just marvel
at the progress LEGO mecha fans have made within the genre. Your account of
that change, although particular to your own building technique, is one that
I can fully comprehend and appreciate.

I look at the “oldies” as well. It’s odd to see how some stand the test of time.

I think the more cognizant we are of our own history, as a building
community, the higher we can elevate this hobby in terms of significance and
status. In art history, and history in general, such reflection and
definition of a particular period often cements it in time and affects future
developments.

I’m working on a mecha time line for the web site. I’m hoping it’ll help put
different models in perspective. I may include some different mecha staple parts
as well so you could see how click hinges changed everything etc...

Furthermore, I don’t think TLG would have made all the more mecha-friendly
parts it did, if it had not been for our sharing of ideas through posts,
meetings, discussions, and so on. 6 years ago, I certainly would not have
predicted that TLG would eventually make not just a mecha line, but an
anime one as well.

Yeah that’s just a nuts line. The mecha kinda suck but I’m sooooo in love with
the anime hair! Yeah! Blue Dragonball looking minifigs!

Anyways, back on topic. :-p
I was also surprised by how truly prolific a builder Cajun was (is?). I can’t
believe I missed such stellar work as the
Efretijin.

| Bryce - what is the creation you are wearing as a hat - is it the rack? Interesting use of Lego anyway... I like the site - however I noted some links are target blank, and others arent. I would generally say to make sure external links out to (...) (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)
