Hello all, I’d been meaning to rebuild the Ursine cub for quite a while, but I had been too busy. Well, last week the building bug hit with a vengence. So powerful was the urge that I was up until 2:30 am on a worknight (I get up at 5:30 am for work Btw). Nuff said there, now to the mecha happiness that is the Ursine cub 2

Wow, I’ve lost sleep to Lego, but never that much sleep.
The body really didn’t get too many changes to it. A few pieces added and a different color scheme.

The arms and legs were completely redesigned as well as the shield. Also, a hand-held autocannon was added in the improved left hand.

The limb redesign really gives it a beefier shape and profile. Looks like the “new” hinge joints really help with that. I love the sand blue accented with dark blue, I’ve never tried that combo before.
Thanks, Kyle. I find myself drawn to that color combo for some reason, but don’t worry, I’ve got a different color scheme in mind for the next Mecha I build.

Also very cool how you got the claw hand to grasp the rifle.

I thought it would be nice to make another hand-held weapon for a mech.

My one suggestion would be to armor the cockpit area a little more. I know other builders have used curved wedge pieces with that canopy, but I can’t remember the specific examples. Maybe somebody else here can remember and post a link...

It’s something I pondered over, but that was the idea behind the shield. Its main purpose was to help deflect head and torso hits, regardless, I’ll keep that in mind. Who knows, in the near future I may just come across that 1 piece that would be a perfect replacement.

Thanks for the suggestion and praise!

-Jon
