Hello all. I just got around to posting a worm-geared mech I built for the Galactic Inquisition. There was an unfortunate disaster before I managed to take most of the pics, and now his leg joints don’t work so well. Anyways, lots of worm gears and so forth.

I’ve heard all the arguments about the effectiveness of mechs in combat, but decided to go for a huge mech with the idea of intimidating the masses in mind. Who wouldn’t be scared by a giant mech stomping through their city, swinging a gigantic mace? PLMKWYT!

There are some really cool details here- I love the feet and the swords on the shinplates. And the breathing vents on the faceplate are perfect. The small man on the belt buckle strikes me as disturbing, though I can’t really say why. Nice vents on the back.

The proportions are off in a couple of places, though. The hands are too small and the legs are too short. Striking, anyway. A very unique mech.

Thanks for your comments. I think the belt buckle is probably disturbing because it’s a minifig, and so it’s weird that it’d be the same exact size as the pilot. Thanks on the rear vents too, most people miss those.

I contend that the proportions are actually off on the torso, and yes, the hands. The hands are definately too small, but I was too lazy to change em (the wrists are too weak anyways, so I’d need to do a big overhaul). I think the upper torso is too long, and the groin area is too short. When I did the skeleton, the legs, arms, and head and torso were all in proportion (according to what I learned in art school anyways) but people kept saying the torso was too short, and I listened and extended it. Then, I think adding the armor played havoc with the proportions. I guess the question in planning a project like this should be, do I want the proportions to look like a human, or a human in armor, when I’m done?

Thanks again for the comments, Dan
