Hi Eric. What exactly is a record and play unit? The name sounds like a

Hi Fradel, werd.
The Record and Play unit is found in the heart of this set:
I purchased the set at the North West Brick Con in 2003. I gave the green parts
to Brick Frenzy as a gift and kept the R&P component.
The unit can remember what you teach it. The unit has two built in motors,
recording sensors technology, a record and a play back button. It also has an
alternate play trigger on the back of the unit. Both the play and trigger
buttons can accept an axle.
The idea being if you made a simple wheeled vehicle for example, then hit
record, then rolled it around on the floor. When you hit play, the unit will
remember the movements you just taught it.
I used both motors together linked by axles and gears. with a hand crank off set
from the main gear train. The linked motors drive a cam that provide the
flapping motion of the wings.
