New guy + First Mech

Hi everyone =)
Ive been lurking around this site for a couple months, never really taking the
trouble of signing myself up. At first I didnt really have anything to post, all
the attempts at construction mecha were a bit embarrasing to say the least,
hehe.
When I finally finished my first real mech, I still had to take the photos. Now
that took a while because, to my suprise, lighting, is extremely annoying to get
right. Either its to dark without the flash, and with the flash you get a lot of
reflection from the plastic. I grabbed a ladder, placed my brightest light on it
and aimed at my mech on the floor. Finally, descent lighting.
Well when I finally had the pictures I had to set up a brickshelf account, again
something I had to figure out. So when I got done uploading the pics, I finally
signed up here. That was about a 2 weeks ago, today I finnaly receive the email
that I can post. (24 hours, riiiight, you guys live on pluto or something?, lol)
After watching Neon Genisis Evangelion, Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed, not to
mention playing the Mechwarrior series I have always wanted wanted to make mecha
outta lego. I never really succeeded, not having the right joints. Then I saw
some of the work posted here and never realised the potential of some of the
parts I took for granted.
Finally, without furder ado, my first mech. Zeus.

- The backpack with the 4 Thrusters/Cannons is its main feature. This fastly
powerfull weapon system both function as the Mechs main propulsion as its main
weapon. Focussed on a single target, the 4 lasers will annialate almost any
target.
- It also has 4 manuvaring thrusters in its shoulders, ment for , erm,
manuvering =). These secondary thrusters also function as counter messure
deployers. (flares/chaff).
- On its shoulders are also 2 rond, black High-Density lasers. These were
designed as long range missile interception tools, also effective against light
armor.
- The 2 four-barreld Autocannons on its upper legs can also function as Missile
Launchers, depending on the mech’s loadout. The Autocannons main purpose is to
lay down a constant stream of bullets, not letting any enemy get close. This way
the Zeus can make full use of its back mounted cannons. Althou the Zeus is not
really suited for close range battle, Its equiped with 2 small shielded pads on
both his forarms, and a beam sabre. (the blade is not modelled, I intended to
add it with photoshop, but never did.)
Well, thats my first post on this board. Please comment on my first mech, I can
use all the advice you guys can give me =)

| Wow! First mecha? It looks like you've been doing this for awhile now. Welcome to .space with joint tech. :) I don't really have any criticisms with this model save the colorscheme, but you've already explained why that is, so I'll let it drop. I (...)
