Hello!
I have begun construction of a capital ship designed for planetary conquest.
The Siege Assault Ship will have a full landing complement of Space Police

Right on, the universe needs more authoritarian regimes hell-bent on
interplanetary conquest. Im a big fan of your Sandford class ship.

I have finished the first drafts of a
Dropship and two
Light Cavalry Mecha.
Id love to hear your opinions on both, especially on construction of a
grappling device for the bay of the Dropship. I played around with some
click-hinge claw type things, but they all looked too bulky. Ideas anyone?

I have to agree with Mark, you should definitely explore the possibilities of
magnets. The mechs dont look all that heavy, and the magnets are surprisingly
strong. I used them for my much maligned light-mechs, as seen here:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=391374 Maybe you could make
some kind of detachable harness on the mechs back, like a parachute. I also
employed the click-hinge claws, and with some tinkering I think they can work
for you. Maybe a combination of both?

Also, before the landing-gear crazed few out there get all riled up, I have
purposely omitted landing gear in this version. First, the dropship actually
doesnt need them as they hang from the underbelly of the Siege Assault Ship.
When landing the marines, they skim the surface and literally drop the mecha
and troops, thus limiting the vulnerability of the landing stage of the
assault.

I think your mechs are small enough that the gearless system would work. As for
the design, I really liked the guns & missles, they rock. However, the upper
legs (thighs?) seems too bulky, and the feet dont seem to jibe with the rest of
the mech. I know the criticism is kind of vague, but Im not sure how else to
phrase it. The feet look like they would collapse when they were released from
the dropship. Also, Ive never been a fan of mecha with windshields. Dont get
me wrong, I like the mechs and I think they have a lot of potential, but there
are just a few nitpicky things that bother me. The dropship, on the other hand,
is money. There have been alot of dropships created over the years, but yours
is pretty unique. I like the unconventional shape, the engines, and the
reversed canopy. Great job and no complaints.
Consider yourself bashed, and keep the great mocs coming. There are alot of
planets out there in need of a little conquering. -Keith

| (...) Sweet! I think I may give something like that a try. (...) It's my first stab at a mech, so I may tinker around with it some more. Honestly, I was sort of disappointed that it came out looking too much like an AT-ST from star wars. I'd king of (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
