Hello!

I have begun construction of a capital ship designed for planetary conquest.
The Siege Assault Ship will have a full landing complement of Space Police
Marines.

I have finished the first drafts of a
<http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=69474 Dropship> and two
<http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=69472 Light Cavalry Mecha>.
I'd love to hear your opinions on both, especially on construction of a
grappling device for the bay of the Dropship.  I played around with some
click-hinge claw type things, but they all looked too bulky.  Ideas anyone?

Also, before the landing-gear crazed few out there get all riled up, I have
purposely omitted landing gear in this version.  First, the dropship actually
doesn't need them as they hang from the underbelly of the Siege Assault Ship.
When landing the marines, they skim the surface and literally drop the mecha
and troops, thus limiting the vulnerability of the landing stage of the
assault.

Please, bash away.

Those are neat, Steve--for some reason, the dropship
reminds me of the Orion from the old _Privateer_ game.
It does not seem as "true" to the SP color scheme as
the 'mechs are--and I do really like those little pod-
bodied bruisers, indeed (although you need pictures with
better ambient lighting--they're very dark, even on my
   brightly-tuned monitor!).

Do the mechs stand on friction alone, or do they need
to have those bar arms moved to maintain their position?
Also--do they fold up (for transport)?  Which brings me
   to the big question/request:

When do we get to see pictures of the ship with the
landers loaded up?  That's the only way to get a really
good sense of the total "feel"--to see it all together
as one.  My favorite view of all, though, is the 3/4-aft
dorsal view of the dropship--it has a nice "broken off"
look at the tail end, very mechanical and tech-y.

(By the way, I really do like the "bow cannon" in one of
your other folders--I'm trying to get enough of the pipe
pieces to experiment with, and that shows the promise!)

(...) I'm not a huge fan of the SP II color scheme, so I am sort of experimenting with it. I'm also trying out using larger blocks of color Mladen style to see how that works. (...) Actually, friction alone is holding them up, the bar arms are there (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
