sadly, no I can't when I post from my e-mail at home and I'm not posting from lugnet web interface, the e-mail service adds that automatically to every mesage that I send. (...) I think this is a great suggestion for what Luke is trying to accomplish. Just place the tubing in the center of two long friction axels. If flex tubing gives you too much flex, you could alternatively use the 4L lightsaber blades in it's (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Interesting solution! I had tried the long pins and found that the end I wanted to stay stayed for the most part...but it wasn't reliable. Increasing the friction of one end is a novel idea indeed. Interesting! Up until now, I had categorically dismissed all non-discrete forms of linear motion. Cam mechs are a wonderful idea! I gave them a try though, and sadly, didn't work out as I had hoped. Luke, I'm stummped too! Although I'm just not sure at what your trying to accomplish. Maybe these two pix can help. I use a Cam Mechanism to achive linear motion. The end out put is a controlled recipricating motion. see the pully wheel behind GG's (...) (22 years ago, 8-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
