I wanted to use a head that would indicate that the electronics of the surveillance and navigation systems were integrated into the pilot's uniform and helmet - the UFO bodies just seemed perfect, but since the pilot IS human.. (...) blue ufo head to a human smiley is a nice touch, too. I did not notice the mines until you pointed them out - so there ARE uses for those little critters!
