Hi Sonnich

Interesting project! Here are some corrections to the English-ness of some
terms I know about:

Cornicle : "end of roof" wall.????
Possibly you mean "Cornice"? Usually the decorated top of a wall just under
the roof, with projections which support the edge of the roof.

Gable: decoration under roof.
A Gable is the triangular vertical end wall of a roof which slopes in two
planes - a gabled roof, as opposed to a hipped or hip roof which slopes in
four planes and therefore uses corner slopes.

Railing: the wall, or fence style building around a roof.
Railing usually implies a type of fence with lots of uprights (balusters)
with gaps between, and a flat rail along the top. Not a solid wall. Can be
anywhere, not just along a roof edge.

Drumms: vertical lines (in columns)
These would be called Flutes , a column is fluted

Here's a list of architectural glossaries - maybe they will be of some help!

Word like roof and walls, arch do not count here, but might be there anyway. As for now, I am using (...) (20 years ago, 12-May-04, to lugnet.build.arch)
