All:

A lot of you have already seen my World Trade Center, which has sadly been
disassembled.  I'd always been fascinated with the design of the plaza and
the buildings, and I've decided to give it another try.  I posted some
pictures on brickshelf of a prototype of the design, which uses lots and
lots of 2x2 tiles that are turned up sideways.  Here are the pictures:

For comparison, my original WTC:

This design is 75% smaller than my original WTC but it has about twice as
much detail, due to the new design.  It also works nicely with the microfig
cars that I built 2 weeks ago.

The design is, unfortunately, very expensive.  The prototype alone cost
about $100, and included 6 packs of white 2x2 tiles, 6 packs of black 2x8
plates, and 4 packs of black 1x6 plates.  The prototype is 1/3 the height of
one side of one tower...  That means that each tower would cost about $1200!
:(  Including 4, 5, and 6 WTC, the whole thing will run me over $3000 in
bulk bricks. :( :( :(   Sigh!

(Although, I noticed that I got a discount for buying numerous copies of the
bulk pieces at once! Has anyone seen this before??)

Well, so I'm not sure if I'll go through with it, unless I find a really
generous rich person who wants to see 4 foot tall Twin Towers in Lego.  :)
I've started plans on everything, which I'll probably upload to brickshelf
soon.  I've also started construction on the base of the plaza, and we'll
see where things go from there. :)
