The Abston Church of Christ pages were taken offline some time ago because they
received more traffic than I can afford to serve. In the three days before I
took them down they received 32,000 visitors, and each visitor used an average
of somewhat more than a megabyte of bandwidth, and that doesn't even include
the images I had deeplinked to brickshelf.

How'd it get so much attention? The site was linked to more than a hundred
"weblogs" and other sites. If you don't know what a weblog is, try a Google
search for the term.

Today is the anniversary of my adopting Precious, the cat I dedicated the
project to. I had intended to mark the occasion by putting the site back online
in a form less interesting to weblogs, but when I got up this morning to do
that I thought of a new format that will take a while to implement.

It'll be back, though, soon enough.

Amy

(...) I did a search for weblog on Google, and didn't find anything (quickly) which gave me any idea what it is. I didn't even need anything more than a Lugnet posting to convince myself I couldn't host pictures on my own web site (see this posting: (...) (22 years ago, 1-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.arch)
