Hey...

looks very nice... well done...

What happened to the gaps between the bricks? Imho some lego style is lost
that way.
The Walls look very slick if there are no bricks.

Play well

Carsten

Hi,

Thanks for the compliments.

I never use the gaps when rendering LEGO stuff.  I agree with you that it
de-LEGOizes the model a bit, but I've had a lot of problems with using gaps:

- I have troubles with POV-Ray if the camera lines up dead-on with a gap.
It makes it look like there is a huge crevice in a certain spot.  I've seen
this on some other people's renders.  I suppose the key to getting rid of
this is effective use camera angles to hide the effect.

- I tend to build fairly large models.  For large wall sections, I tend to
heavily use the large "juniorized" bricks (1x1x5,1x2x5,1x3x5, and 1x6x5).
It would be far too tedious to use normal 1xXx1 beams for such large
structures.  Unfortunately, when you use these juniorized bricks, the gaps
tend to be really noticeable and models look terrible.  This can be the case
with real LEGO, but usually, the seams are so much less obvious that it
isn't an issue.

I tried re-plotting this with seams.  The roof looked significantly better
with the seams (it broke it up so it looked like shingles).  Unfortunately,
the walls looked terrible because of the combination of the above two
problems.  I tried to reduce the seam with to .25, but then the seams went
completely away!
