Re: Santa Maria della Salute in Venice

I was just looking over all the pictures on Brickshelf before you posted. This is really some build! Very nice, very detailed intricate construction. The details and just a joy to look at. Even the light bulb holder is Lego. Great work. e (20 years ago, 6-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.build, lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: Official display in Japan (found more)

Hi Manfred, Thanks for finding these links! I really love these models, especially the Mont St. Michel and the pagodas, so it's great to see larger pictures and get some information.   Re: Official display in Japan (found more)

I've found more information and pictures about this exibit. For most of the models shown in the posted gallery, I recognized the real life sites they represented. For instance, that middle age city Daan Bargerbos mentioned, is Mont-Saint-Michel in (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle, FTX) !!

  Re: Official display in Japan

(...) Hi Bbruce, Thanks for sharing! Alas, my Japanese isn't that good as well, but there are some huge buildings! Very jealous e.g. for this giant pyramid. The Middle Age city is gigantic. Very lovely structures indeed. Daan Bargerbos (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle)

  Official display in Japan

Hi all, Surfing around, I found this site. I don't read Japanese at all, but this appears to be from some sort of TLC display. Lots of awesome MOCs in ancient and castles themes: (URL) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle) !

Hi Adrian, thanks for the comments about deeplinking. Next time I'll try again ;-). In the mean time the folder is already moderated, so you should be able to find the pics. (...) Your deep links aren't deep enough. Keep clicking on the image until you get .jpg at the end of the URL, and only the image shows up on your browser window. Adrian (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Pyramids!

Hi there, If you look in an encyclopedia you can find a list of 7 wonders, but these "top 10 lists" of the ancient world eventually got rewritten. Whether that was because the originals were gone, or too many new places were crying for attention, I (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Hello Erik, thanks for sharing the pics. I like the color scheme you've come up with. And although you can't come close to minifig scale, it really makes it more lifely. Very nice MOC!   Re: For building India, a review

(...) Yes, it is sad to reply to one's own 'reply' but I am now realising the source of Banker's books. Of course he has written a series - he is retelling an epic! Yep, I think this summer's reading is sown up. Chris (20 years ago, 8-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: For building India, a review

Hi Erik Thanks for the tip - Banker's book(s) look like fun. A change of setting might draw me back into the fantasy genre. I can see from amazon that he has written quite a few in the Ramayana series. Chris (20 years ago, 8-Jun-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  For building India, a review

I've opened up a lot of Adventurers India sets, even built some, but I never considered this much of an area for building until just recently. First of all there is K.K. Quah's excellent Taj mahal. Hello Erik, thanks for your compliments and annotations. I surely would like to have some more tan slopes ;-) And in using them I discovered that you don't really need the tan bricks to build the original Pyramid, so that does give some perspective (...)
