In the meantime, very nice model, but the columns are all upright. :)

Wow, that must have been something to stand on the site itself.  It would be
great to see your photos.  I've seen a few photos on the web of the ruins, but
the resolution was low (or the pictures were small).

It would be interesting to also build a model of the temple in its current
ruined state.  Not nearly as aesthetically satisfying though.  Perhaps when I
tear it down?

Sorry for the delay.  Life intrudes like that sometimes!  (Trying to get a
job takes priority.)

Yes, it was amazing to be there.  During our 2 week trip we were at 3 of the
seven wonders of the ancient world sites (the other 2 were The Colossus of
Rhodes and The Temple of Artemis at Ephessus).

For the record, Ephessus, Olympia, and Delphi were outstanding, but the
Palace at Knossos on Crete wasn't worth the time.

Olympia will always hold a special place in my heart - while there my son (9
1/2 at the time) and I wrestled in the training grounds and ran races in the
stadium.

An interesting story from Ephessus: While there we were told that everyone's
house has marble floors.  Not wood.  Not Tile.  Not carpet.  Marble.  Why?
Because it's the cheapest material!  <collective groan from all the Americans>

I will try and put pictures up somewhere in a couple days with commentary and
post the web address.  I doubt putting them on Brickshelf would be appropriate.

People use white bricks when building these ancient stone buildings which is
fine until it weathers, then light grey would be more accurate.
