I have built a minifig scale model of the Temple of Zeus, the building housing
the Statue of Zeus by Pheidias. The statue itself is considered one of the seven
Wonders of the ancient world, built in the fifth century BC. Although it was the
building and its columns that first got me interested in this project, I like
the way the statue turned out as well.
You can see pictures of the model at http://www.bulkbricks.com/zeus/zeus.htm
The web site is still under construction. I have some notes I haven't yet added
that will go up in the next several weeks.
Enjoy!

| (...) In 2001 I was at Olympia, in the workshop, and on (what was left of) Zeus's Temple. If you'd like some pictures I could send them to you. In the meantime, very nice model, but the columns are all upright. :) Brian (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

| Wow. Thanks for showing us. I like the massive, bricky columns. Shows that squares are the way to go! I went looking for details on Pheidias (lost) statue. Could you tell a little bit about how you designed yours? -Erik (21 years ago, 8-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)
