Hi, Scott. Thanks for the compliment on the buildings, or as you correctly
point out, facades. You're also right in that almost nothing I build for
The Brick Testament is left standing. I just don't have enough LEGO to keep
the old stuff intact and keep building new stories.
Constructing things for camera is interestingly different than the sort of
building most LEGO builders do. Most people try to make their MOCs look
good from all angles, and often people detail both the exterior and
interiors of their buildings. But for The Brick Testament, I usually know
in advance that a certain strcuture will only ever be seen from one specific
angle, so I construct them to only look impressive from that one angle. I
could take more photos to show you what some of these background buildings
look like from other angles, but it wouldn't be too pretty. @8^) Also, a
lot of what I build is very fragile, since it's faster to build that way,
and I know they're not going to be around for very long.
Of course, I don't always know *exactly* how I'll end up composing the shot,
so it's not all that uncommon for me to construct something with a lot of
nice detail, only to later realize that half of what I've just spent a few
hours building will never make it into the shot. Or later on the most
interesting details get covered up with dialogue bubbles.
If there's any specific constructions you want to know more about, I can
check to see if they're still around, or if there are any photo outtakes
that show them from other angles. But as I mentioned, most everything is
photographed and then destroyed. Such is life. @8^)
How's your project going?
