I had the opportunity to scan my DH-2 this weekend, and put it up on my web
page, http://www.frontiernet.net/~ghaberbe/legodh2.htm .

Lego's attempts at rotary and radial airplane engines have irked me. The
best one is in the Eagle Stunt Flyer, http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6615, the
one's in the Adventurer's sets, ie the Bi Wing Baron,
http://guide.lugnet.com/set/5928, just look totally wrong, mostly due to too
few cylinders. So I started to think about creating a better looking rotary
engine.

Then it dawned on me that I had never seen a pusher airplane made out of
Lego. I looked through a coffee table book on figher planes, I looked
through my copy of Richthofen's War rules, and settled on the DeHavilland
DH-2, a small, nimble pusher plane with a rotary engine. The engine is still
not quite right, I couldn't think of a way to make a rotary engine with 7 or
9 pistons, but I think it captures the feel pretty well.

Let me know what you think,

Thanks,

George

George, Nice plane. I especially appreciated your background information on the plane. I had NO idea that there ever were planes made in this "pusher" style. I vaguely remember seeing an illustration of the Wright brothers plane, but never thought (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.build)
