 Building / 7644
  Vancouver Public Library

I finished the first phase of construction on a model of the Vancouver Public Library, a very interesting, architecturally speaking, building. (The second, surrounding, building which contains office and retail space will be coming soon.) I am still (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.general) !

Wow! That is a really cool looking building. I haven't seen quite that sort of curved wall construction before. I like the way (apparently) that you used the 1x2 plates to create a solid curved band. Great Job! Brad Dwayne Towell (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

That looks like a very challenging building to make out of Lego. looks great. Glad to finally see some more non-orthogonal creations. Any others planned? (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

Dwayne Towell wrote in message ... (...) Cool, Dwayne! I love the VPL building (and it's a good library inside, too). I think I might have tried to do it in tan or red rather than grey (pieces permitting) as one of the noticeable features of the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Vancouver Public Library

Thanks for the compliment. I saw an apartment building Steven Barile built out of yellow (and black or red) that had all curved walls and was kinda triangular (I can't find a picture of it on line). When I saw a (tiny) picture of the library I knew (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

(...) great. (...) planned? Library Square actually is two buildings: the library which I built and a surrounding building which has office and retail space (I believe). I will be adding the surrounding building which is also curved and has some (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Vancouver Public Library

Thanks. I only got to see it for an hour while we were on vacation last year. It is a very cool building. I tried red at first but it looked to cartoon-like. Tan would be cool but I don't have near enough to do that (and I even part sets). I think I (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

Blue would take you back to teh cartoon look, I should think. Kevin ---...--- Craftsman (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

Dwayne: I was in Vancouver a few years ago and saw this magnificent building personally. You have done a great job capturing its essence. I wish I would have had more time to study it because it is such a striking building. Vancouver itself is an (...) (23 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

That's tres cool, Dwayne! I love the fact that it'll be displayed at PNLTC layouts! People will flip:-) This again exemplifies what I think is so cool-- LTCs modeling regional landmarks. Seems about time to mention JT's NGLTC Atlanta chicken! FUT: (...) (23 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.build.arch)
