I've another train engine added to my web site.

It's black, very black; but, it is not a steamer.

This model is primarily an exercise for me in making graphics to apply to
models.  This is a fairly big step for me.  "Hello, my name is James, and, uh,
I, uh, I use stickers."

I should say that any inspiration (or blame ;-) ?) that I have for thinking
about using home-made stickers came from the fine folks in the PNLTC.
Their many fine train models are made even finer by the application of
appropriate non-LEGO and home-made decals.

Hmmm, I said my new locomotive is black, well, unfortunately, the stickers I've
produced aren't equally black.  (You'll see what you mean if you see the
picts.)  It doesn't help that the scanning process to put the picts up on my
web site made the black from the color laser printer appear lighter than it
actually is.

The Starlight Express is actually a Marklin model train engine, color scheme to
commemorate (sp?) the 10th anniversary "Starlight Express" show.  Apparently,
so says my Marklin catalog, the "Starlight Express" show is about a boys dream
about reviving a railroad:  sleek and modern trains, and the older steamers....
Dunno much more.

I thought this model lent itself particularly well, due to the black train
canopy pieces I had laying about, and the notion to try my hand at a first go
at custom decals.

Here's the result  (again, the black of the decal doesn't look quite so gray
in reality):

Thanks for looking.  I would appreciate your input for darkening the black of
the sticker and suggestions for good glues to use.  I plan on trying to darken
up the black with Adobe Photoshops contrast and color editing tools for another
go at it.

later,
James Mathis

"Starlight Express" is a wonderful, fun show by Andrew Lloyd Weber. The cast performs on roller skates. A brief summary of the show can be found at: (URL) link with a lot of info: (URL) show never seemed to make it big in the US but my wife and I (...)
