That one blew us all away when it was first posted. It's one of the most
realistic large mobile crane I've seen, that's for sure. Truly a work of art.
My question would be, how do you define bigness?
Size? Size in scale? Number of motors used? payload capacity at full boom
extension?
Some musings (because I don't know the answer to this thought starter question)
The Liebherr has a very large boom, but I don't recall it having a huge
payload capacity. More motors doesn't necessarily mean bigger, it may just
mean "not as efficient". Dennis's model is to a scale and thus one can
determine the "to scale" size (which is huge, the prototype is one of the
largest mobile cranes extant). Derick's isn't... and has no specific prototype.
I used to post "I was first, this is best, that's the biggest" sorts of
posts, but I now think it's better to post "I did this, I think it's neat"
and let people rave as they will...
Both of these cranes are worthy of serious raves without trying to decide
which is "bigger" or "better"...
