Articulated, motorized space rover —Bram Lambrecht
Here's the first LEGO model to be photographed by my new Nikon Coolpix 990! (URL) all the pictures are great (taken in somewhat low light, and they're also the first pictures I've uploaded to my computer, so I'm not that great with the camera yet.) (...)      Pretty cool stuff. I like the use of universal joints to provide power to the front(?) wheels so that the suspension can move the wheels up and down.          RE: Articulated, motorized space rover —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! (...) Rear wheels, actually. Maybe front would have pulled the model better. Right now, it's driven by a worm gear, but the gears still slip sometimes! On linoleum, the wheels slip when they turn, so the vehicle doesn't move. On carpet (...) (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.space)

(...) Oh my oh my! That is a very cool model. Excellent looks, and it works! The combination of those two is what makes for my favorite models. Hey TLG! This would make a fine UCS entry for your new Mars series. (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

Hi Bram! Grats on the new camera. You might want to use a tripod. I've noticed from using my Nikon that when I take a picture with no flash, the shutter stays open longer and the slightest movement results in blur. Those are some nifty wheels you (...)       (...) You should have seen the pictures I took of the Cleveland skyline at night...the only light was from the lights of the buildings. (...) That was the idea, just bigger :) (...) I like it too...it was hard to make it wide enough for a minifig to (...) (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

Re: Articulated, motorized space rover —Matthew Miller
(...) Or, just use Best Shot mode -- I've gotten amazingly clear pictures in low light with no flash that way. Very cool for taking pictures of lego. The macro mode is good too. (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

Re: Articulated, motorized space rover —Tony Hafner
(...) My favorite part is the cockpit- you did a great job at cramming in all those computers. The studs-down use of that window makes for a killer front end, too. You've got a much better camera than I'm using... but you need to hold it still! -- (...) (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

RE: Articulated, motorized space rover —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! (...) There are actually computers mounted upside down along with all those levers and lights, but they're kind of hard to see. (...) I know...but I took these pictures in rather low light (the lights in my room are quite weak), so the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

Re: Articulated, motorized space rover —Duane Hess
(...) <SNIP> (...) Awesome functionality. Would you be willing to post some more details on the articulated joint? I've been taking a look at an articulated vehicle again lately and this fits right into the puzzle perfectly. My last one relied on (...)         RE: Articulated, motorized space rover —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! (...) Sure. First of all, here's a closeup picture: (URL) micromotor (mounted upside down with some Technic bricks and pins) drives the 8 tooth gear on the bottom. The 8t gear turns the 40t gear. The axle attached the 40t gear runs (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.space)
