Ralph,
Don't try to rationalize your behavior. Just because an element doesn't
fit your standard of 'normal', doesn't make it 'odd'. Even if it is 'odd',
that's no excuse to mutilate it.
Euphonismizing your actions as 'doctoring' just makes it worse, not better.
You aren't improving the brick, or increasing its quality of existance.
