Hmm, I wonder about that. I'm not sure I'd consider it "pure" even if
TLC bought Knex and made an adapter piece. I guess my reasoning is that
the geometry of Knex is not (I assume) designed to follow the geometry
of LEGO bricks.

Just a bit of insider info (albeit, the information is now 2+ years old) -
K'NEX owns the patent for combining LEGO and K'NEX. I have no information to
validate or refute any purchase of K'NEX by LEGO, but if it is true, LEGO has
also picked up Lincoln Logs. Hmmmm.... Lincoln Logs with studs ;)

Also, I must agree with others when it comes to LEGO purity - If it's made by
LEGO and connects to other LEGO building products, it IS LEGO. Sounds simple,
don't it? :)

I knew, going in, that I would be using non-LEGO string on my bridge, the
pennies were a last minute recovery caused by underestimating the cantilever
arm length and balance. If my basement was longer, I wouldn't have had to use
the pennies (I'd have automatically made the approaches to the bridge longer
and nine pounds of brick would have done the job). The span was always aimed
at 16 feet.
