A good start would be the Technic turn table, but that might not support
enough weight. You could increase the weight supported by putting wheels
around the rim of the turn table (and buy a few 2x2 tile bulk packs to make a
smooth track for the wheels to ride on). You would then want to rig up a 9v
geared motor and gear it down. You may want to build one of those
adder/subtractor gear gismos to allow you to run two motors for more power.

You can get a reasonably round 24x24 base if you use the 12x12 rounded corner
super bricks frequently seen in Belville sets (unfortunately, you would have
to settle for pastel colors, though the light yellow is decent - 5846 My
Secret Island has 4 in light yellow, but I think S@H is out of those sets). If
you also get the 24x24 super bricks with the 12x12 rounded corner cutout, you
could use those to make a well for the turntable workings to hide some of it
(though since the pieces don't form a perfect circle, the table base itself
would need to be above the base, but it would hide the wheels and motors
pretty well if desired, you also only really need one set of 4 of the 24x24
bricks since you can build the rest of the height from regular bricks, as long
as you don't mind the base not being light yellow or whatever for it's full
height).

For a much larger turntable, you could use a circle of 9V train track.

I hope that gives you some ideas to start off with.

Frank
