In the first one, your working fluid is an incompressible one (liquid oil, generally) so you have the full control of the stroke length of any piston.But in the case of pneumatics, the working fluid (...) Sure, but in the original configuration of 8868, you have more control, as you can turn the compressor on and off for short durations and yield relatively small changes in the stroke of the cylinder.
