I bought a 6979 Interstellar Starfighter recently on a substantial discount
recently for about $38 USD, which seemed like a pretty good deal considering
it had some fiber optic stuff and a micro motor. After building and trying
it out I found that even with no load the micro motor only turns at a rate
of about 0.5 rev/sec (that's half a revolution per second). Is this normal?
Also, I seem to recall hearing that these things are a bit easy to break by
stalling them. Is this true? (In which case I might buy a couple more
Starfighters, the price is only a little over twice as much as what Lego
Spares Service are charging for a micromotor alone).
Thanks,
Paul

| Yes 1/2 rev/sec is about right, the micromotor is geared down a lot. That's why it's so noisy. It's good as a power source for animations, etc as you don't need a separate gear train. GMLTC transfer table uses two. You can stall it and at that point (...) (25 years ago, 3-Sep-99, to lugnet.build)
