Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —John Neal
(...) But you already *have* converted-- 6 wide trucks and 8 eight wide trains. They go hand in hand like Fred and Ginger, Peanut butter and Jelly, Lar and modesty....well, you get the idea;-) -John (...) (25 years ago, 31-Aug-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Larry Pieniazek
(...) well, modesty IS a virtue and I've got them all, but I digress. Trucks should be the SAME width as trains, at least the trailers should be. Take a look at a container, and a boxcar sometime. To LEGO resolution, same width. Those 4 wide (...) (25 years ago, 31-Aug-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Paul Foster
(...) But containers aren't the same width as the cars. The containers go in drop well cars so the cars have to be wider than the containers. More fuel on the fire.... Paul (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Yes, they are a bit wider, that is true. But the extra width can be as little as 4 inches a side (in fact on some spine cars it's 0) which in a total width of 10 feet is less than LEGO resolution. That's not even a plate on its side, much less (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —David VinZant
(...) I made a more scaled container awhile back. check out (URL) I have since changed the car that carrys the container, to a shared bogie unit. With 4 containers long stacked two containers high. Pictures to come soon I hope. Dave (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Tom Stangl
It loaded fine for me here at work, but I know for a fact it won't load at home, even though I am using Communicator 4.61 at both locations, both on NTWS 4.0 SP4. The reason I know it won't load at home, even without trying? Xoom. If you have a (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Larry Pieniazek
(...) 10 for width yes. Container height and length vary. 40 used to be standard but there now are 20s, 30s, 40s, 44s and 50s I believe. I dunno what the standard height is. However my point is simple, 10 feet is the width of a container, it's also (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Larry Pieniazek
(...) No, just trains. Trains have been six wide since 196x, before there was LegoLand, much less Town. I see no reason to change now. (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —John Neal
(...) Ah, yes. Trains. Consider the last two offerings -- 3225 and 4561 [1]. Truly I say unto you that the *only* good things about those sets are the windows. I'd rather have the entire train line discontinued in exchange for train window packs if (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Paul Foster
(...) I think standard container lengths are 20, 40, 48 and 53. There might also be 28 footers. These are also standard semi trailer lengths. Paul (25 years ago, 2-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Eric Kingsley
(...) Hmmm. Maybe your right but doesn't a 6 wide semi translate to 4 wide cars and 6 wide railroad cars? Or is a 6 wide semi to wide for 6 wide railroad cars requireing 8 wide railroad cars?
