The tracks work great.  The gears fit the track pieces perfectly;
the 3x3 pulleys just act as wheel covers.  They travel over almost
anything, the whole track assembly can also roll if needed, like
the wheel based, red version.  I wish TLG would use those pieces in
kits instead of those stiff, rubber track-wannabes.

I bet they work, I'd have been surprised if your creations did not. I

Are these triangular wheel/track assemblies for real?

That is, do real farm machines use this trick? I seem to recall seeing a
machine somewhere IRL that had a triad wheel assembly but can't recall
for sure.

Deere and Caterpillar do use tracks on some of their tractors.  For older
tractors, they offer kits that bolt on in place of the existing hub and
tire.  Since they use gear boxes to transfer the power from the axles to the
track sprockets, they are not able to rotate over obstacles.

I think the best way to allow them to rotate would be to use hydraulics
instead of a gearbox/tranfer case.  This is the way most of the high
clearance sprayers work now.  There is no transmission; the engine just runs
a large hydrostatic pump that pumps fluid to each wheel motor.  Running the
hydraulics through the hub to the three motors on the track would probably
be too expensive, though.  I don't think many farm fields would need that
capability anyway, but it would be neat!

I have not yet seen tracks on self propelled applicators, but it would be
the next step in making a machine more productive for both pre and post
emerging fields.
