steering 8880 Have I goofed up?

My supercar from DYA finally came, and as I put in the steering wheel, I
noticed that it only engaged the rear wheels. THis is because the rack gear
for steering in front is kind of suspended in space, and doesn't make contact
with the spur gear that's supposed to engage it. Is this going to correct
itself as I finish the car,or did I make some mistake which I now can't find?
If I'm going to go back, tear down and rebuild, I want to know now!
