Being primarily a spacehead I've rarely strayed from collecting and building
spaceships. Though recently I built my first Super Car #8880 and have begun
to understand what all the fuss is about. What an awesome model. Can't
wait to build the new Super Street Sensation! Five speeds and reverse, too
cool!
Anyway, it hit me one day, TLG would NEVER do a model of a weapon of any
kind, so I was inspired to build one. After a few hours, I had what I think
is a pretty badass all black space-oriented/replica/knockoff of a Desert
Eagle (if you're wondering what this handgun looks like, John Lithgow sports
a black one in Cliffhanger. Crappy movie, but a boss-looking gun!). Those
black angled slopes with five studs on the slope from RoboForce sets came in
very handy for achieving the wedge shaped nose. Pluse the 4x4x2 black
Technic cylinders from Land Jet 7 make for an intimidating barrel. I was
even able to make a working trigger with one the black spring pieces used
for the rotating octagonal arms in AquaRaiders sets. I think it looks
REALLY ballsy and was wondering if anyone else has done something similar?
I was hoping to add lights and sound but I haven't been able to figure out
how to make them work off the trigger. The challenge of it really has me
excited. I was thinking the Technic Polarity switch (#5115) might work, but
I'm doubtful that I can fit everything inside without significantly changing
the design of the model, which looks perfect right now. Mayhap I'll have to
work on a space rifle with a fiber-optic gatling gun-style muzzle!
