Not at all, but it certainly is one option. In fact
HoMas boom doesnt use
Technic at all, but probably doesnt get the look you want.
Another possibility is what I used in
this trestle bridge.
Unfortunately I dont have any close-ups, but the main supports are Technic, the
diagonal braces are plates attached to 1/2 pins and studs on the Technic beams.
