I know *exactly* where you're coming from.  My current project has a 4 story
tower that starts about 7 bricks above ground (mountainscape)  The outside is
modeled with BURPs and black & grey bricks, but I was running very short on
bricks at the time, so the center is supported with white 2x2 columns.  Even
though someone would have to literally tear the tower *and* the mountainside
apart to see those bricks, I know they're there, and it bugs me every time I
look at that tower.
I've come very close myself to fixing it several times, but the upper part of
the tower took me several days to get right, and I just can't quite make • myself
risk messing with it.

My friends call me anal.  They just don't understand. ;-)

So what you're saying is that you've built in a dungeon/catacombs?

Nope, but I can see how you might think that.
Most of the model(1) sits right on the baseplates, but some parts are built
onto/into the mountain wall that runs around 3 sides - it's a box canyon sort
of thing.  The tower is question is built at one end of the curtain wall, and
starts out higher, more-or-less where the wall meets the mountain.

I haven't done any pictures up yet, since it's not quite finished, but you can
see a pair of pictures that Chris Gray took at our local lego-fest a couple
months back here:

1: What exactly do you call a large scale project like this?  Uber-model?
Playscape? Grand undertaking? Stupidly ambitious? 'Model' seems a bit
inadequate for describing a project that takes up 4 feet by 4 feet, with
several seperate structures.

(...) From experience, I tend to refer to them (to myself) as a 2 dayer or 3 dayer: the length of time it will take to deconstruct, sort parts and store everything away. (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)
