I suppose the LEGO Comany could make such shirts and if you looked closely you could tell the designs were made up of LEGO bricks. But then you might expect LEGO to actually sell sets that would allow you to make the pattern that’s on your shirt. Well, if they could just get the macaroni brick available at Pick-a-Brick, I suppose it would all be good.

Just out of curiosity, any idea what the piece count on one of these would be (the blue and yellow one doesn’t look like it would be too bad)?

It’s true, the piece count on some of these is not entirely overwhelming. It helps to use two different colors of macaroni bricks. Or maybe not. If you’re buying from Briklink, you probably just want to stockpile the cheapest color (which is white, I believe).

Though all these macaroni mosaics I’ve made with ldraw look to be the same size at first glance, you may have noticed that this is not the case. Even though the images are the same size, the scale differs. Some are on a 48x48 baseplate, while others use 4 48x48 baseplates. Since it’s all in ldraw, I just try to show off the patterns as nicely as possible, and for some that means building a relatively small mosaic, while other patterns look cooler if you build them on a much larger scale. But they’re all repeating patterns, so it’s kind of like deciding at what level of zoom they look best at.
