I don’t know if it really matches a Peterbuilt or a Mack but ye-Gods man, I’d say you have one awesome looking truck none the less. It certainly appeals to me, and once again reminds me that 2005 is going to be a banner year for Lego sets. Out of curiosity, what qualities make this an “American” truck? Or rather, what distringuishes an European model from an American model highway rig?

2 quick off the cuff things I know of... cabover vs conventional, and total bumper to bumper length.

Someone European can comment in more detail but IIRC, European loading gauges and length restrictions tend to make shorter trucks more practical, making conventionals (like your typical Kenworth or Peterbuilt(1) 40 foot long tractor) much less common, a cabover still gives you some room for a sleepercab and the ability to stay well under 8-10 metres for your tractor length.

I agree, this is a very nice build. Spotlighted!

(...) It also seems that the Euro cab-overs have much taller windshields, that seem to bulge outward from the cab. I guess it gives the driver greater vision immediately in front of the truck for easier/safer manoeuvring in confined spaces. Also it (...) (19 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.build)
