This has probably turned up before, but I wanted to know how people recommend
that closing airlocks should be created.  I may not use any of your ideas, but I
would like to know what techniques there are.  I am interested particularly in
airlocks that can be opened from the inside (realistically, by minifigs); affect
the outside more than the inside and allow spaceships to dock with others (this
is for a spaceship model).  Examples from previous MOCs would be appreciated.  I
am also interested in interior airlocks (that don't obstruct the minifigs
inside).

(...) As cool as the 8x8 radar dish hatches look, placing them so they swing outwards is a major engineering mistake, since you'd have higher pressure pushing it open instead of closed. Of course, that's just a hatch, not a full airlock. I think the (...) (20 years ago, 15-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Hi Peter, Here's an airlock I came up with. The pics are in sequence as the minifig enters the airlock, steps on the rotating plateform, and exits the airlock into the ship: (3 URLs) Basically, the airlock is a half-cylinder piece on a turntable. In addition to the cool circular airlock that Dan Jassim posted, here's one from Chris Maddison a couple of years ago: (URL) message> and (URL) Folder>. James Wilson Dallas, TX (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

I don't really have good pictures of the ones I built, but it's got an inner door that swings inward and an outer hatch that attached to the standard moonbase flange. Corridor w/ Inner door: (URL) Airlock Assy: (URL) Airlock Assy: (...) (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Here's one of my favorites. It's not an airlock per se, but a hatch that closes flush and doesn't take up much space. Could easily be the outside door of an airlock. It's (URL) Todd Trotter's Sighthound Recon>. James Wilson Dallas, TX (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)
