I am trying to build a compact minifig cryo chamber for those deep space
treks. Does anyone have some ideas they would be willing to share?

About six ice cubes and a paper cup works pretty well for short trips.

For longer trips, I take two Explorien-style clear blue half-cylinder pieces
to form a 4x4 hollow canister which a minifig can squeeze into with its leg
folded.  I put 1x4 -> 2x2 hinge plates on the top and bottom to allow easy
clamshell-style access.  VIP freezer compartments get a 2x2 slope with a
computer pettern attached to the outside -- the blinking lights lull the
VIPs to sleep.

Hehe.

Ahh... blinking lights... Enya... zzz..

I was thinking the same thing. Also the 4x6x2? older style space canopies work
well, if you're not using them. But any full-sized canopy should do it. And
IIRC you won't need to fold their legs. You won't get that nice round, snug,
"iron lung" look like Sproaticus is suggesting, but it's an alternative.

when replying, please don't inhale the spamcake.

Since I don't have any of the trans cylinder halves, I trying out Tom's
suggestions. I was reluctant to go with it because of the room it eats up.
(Space travel is expensive, you know). I'm posting a version of the chamber
in the cad.dat.ideas group so that you can check it out. My idea is to ...
Aww well, you can look for yourselves.

(...) Pretty cool. If the unit is against the wall, you could actually build it into the wall, to save a bit of floor space. With the wall extended by one stud past the black frame, you'd still get a bit of white sticking out. I like using the (...) (26 years ago, 21-May-99, to lugnet.build)
