(...) Thanks. I hadn't planned on it, but it might make for some interesting LDraw scenes to render. (...) After the engine front assembly had been completed, the rest of the design screamed "curves". (...) I didn't actually borrow that, but I was (...) (...) That's not it, because you're absolutely right: it isn't sturdy. In fact the dome piece falls right off, if your palm tree pieces are anything like mine. I thought I'd found the perfect answer with that trick, too, but alas, no. The width of (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

In lugnet.build, Adrian Drake wrote: <snip> (...) Well, that design is a lot more efficient and nice looking than what I came up with. One of the problems I have with building is that I am not really a visual-type thinker. It's a good exercise for (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.build)

Here is the assembly I found for this engine configuration : (URL) The main problem with this configuration is that it's not sturdy at all... and I didn't try to solve this issue yet. But I like very much the "perfect fit" of itly. Cheers, JP. (22 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

This ship is sweet! The domed ball joint thingy looks really cool attached to the engines. Cool idea for a headrest. The binoculars on the back also give a cool touch to the ship. Awesome stuff! -Stefan- (22 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Tom, That's really nice! Any chance of some exploded views / building instructions, for those of us whose brains are too weak to work out the details? I really like the cockpit with the curved opening that echos the curvy-ness of the front of the (...) (22 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

(...) Well, I can't look at .ldr/.dat files at work, so I have no idea what your model looks like right now (how about a pic and toss it on brickshelf?) but I can show you what I did when I built a spiral staircase for one of my Moonbase modules (...) (22 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.build)

  Spiral staircase study and questions

I posted this message to lugnet.cad.dat.ideas because it had an attached .dat file. However, I was looking for comments and help in this group, so I am reposting it here along with a link to the message in the lugnet.cad.dat.ideas: (URL) been (...) (22 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.build)

(...) Like Tom says, experiment with it. Try and find new ways to do it. Between he and I, we have two solid ways of making those two pieces fit together, and I'm willing to bet that someone will come up with some other surprise technique to make it (...)
