It sure has! Guess what my wallpaper comes from?
I haven't tried this yet, but I think you can save _both_ the height
field _and_ the generated texture (in one file each), and then you
should be able to render the height field with the texture.

No, the texture can not be exported in the version I have (0.6.11),
but there is a dimmed button for it, so perhaps in a later version?

BTW, I have found another program called 'Terrain Maker', it's an
older DOS prog. but is quite good at generating terrain (both
heightfield and texture), and you can edit the terrain too.
It's a lot of work to find a good view in POV though, where you don't
see the 'edges of the world', and to scale the models right.
Don't remember where I found it - perhaps a link from
http://www.povray.org ?
