For backstory, please continue:
With ships continuing to misjudge Tau-Dasa's erratic gravity well, and
plummet to the surface all across the globe, Secondary Systems, the small
company charged with the rescue of fallen space pilots, has put into use the
brand-new 'BirdsEye' VTOL reconnaissance craft.
This atmospheric vehicle is capable of vertical takeoff and landings,
mid-air hovering, and sustainable flights of up to 39 hours.

Designed with Secondary Systems particular mission needs, the 'BirdsEye' has
one particularly outstanding feature. Along with its hovering capability and
flight endurance, it also has a variable geometry cockpit. The pilot can
alter the pitch of her cockpit for a clear view of the ground or ocean she
is flying or hovering over.

Although not pictured, expert pilots can actually completely invert the
cockpit 180 degrees while the wings, turbothrusters and fuselage remain
upright. This allows a pilot to sustain an excellent view of what is below
without losing altitude.
