... and his name is:

Captain Future!

I still remember him being one of the idols of my childhood. I eagerly
watched every TV episode and wished I had all of the toy models and figures
to play with. Well, now I finally have at least one of them in
Minifig-scale. The "Cosmolem" is the shuttle-craft of his spaceship "Comet".
It only has two seats and is used for exploration of planet surfaces or
areas for which the Comet is to big. It's hangar is in the rear sphere of
the Comet.

See the pictures on my homepage

or at brickshelf:

As you probably will notice, I used the canopy from the 7181 "Tie
Inter-ceptor" for the front. The light gray mini guns are from the 7127
"AT-ST" and the white technic liftarms from the 8480 "Space Shuttle".

I used the technic conveyor belt links to build the rear exhaust. The white
parts for the side thrusters are the rims and fuel tanks from the 8868
"Airtech Claw Rig" and the transparent red radar dish is from set 6982.

I tried to create the cast of the TV series with existing Minifig parts.

This includes:
Captain Future (aka Curtis Newton),
Grag the robot (with his pet "Eeg"),
Otho the android (with his pet "Oog")
and agent Joan Randall.

Otho's face for example is from the 4051 "Nesquick Rabbit" set.

Blondes really seem to be "hard to get", because I had to import the 3416
"Women's Team" US set to get my hands on Joan's blonde hair.

Well ... I guess building the "Comet" would be the next logical thing. But
such a project would require to either take apart my Rebel Blockade Runner
or buy a second one, and at the moment both alternatives are out of
question. Maybe I will start with an "ldraw"-version first.

Wow, that is sweet! I've never seen that show before but from the stills you provide it looks like you really captured the craft and characters. Glad to see Extra sweet is the girl in the Classic space shirt. mmmmm classic space. Welcome to .space (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)
