This is completely at your discretion; if you are a stickler for scale, you
might want to try and match the wall thickness to that of the building (thick
walls, i.e. stone, industrial, or residential construction might be 2x thick,
whereas a warehouse or shed might have thinner walls where 1x would be more
accurate). Of course 2x will give you a somewhat sturdier construction ...

Hmmm, that depends, again, on you. When you say minifig scale, there are a
couple of different interpretations. One interpretation corresponds to the
LEGO company's idea of minifig scale. Which is very different (much
smaller) from "realistic" minifig scale. For comparison, consider the
buildings built by LEGO, versus the buildings built by John Neal
(http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=6920)
If you're like me and John, then you'll probably tend toward the larger
interpretation. As a rough measure, think "1 stud = 1 foot" for this scale -
and remember, a typical story will be 10-12 feet high (including the spaces
between the floors).
If you prefer LEGO-esque minifig scale ... well, I'll let someone else answer
how to design in that scale.

I'll sound like a broken record, but it's up to you. Most train layout
buildings that you see pictures of are not fully detailed on the interior.
However, most buildings that you see constructed for games such as Brikwars
are. It all depends on where you want to put your effort. I insist on doing
interiors, so that they can be used for both shows and Brikwars, but many
people don't.

| Hi. I played with Lego when I was young, and now after a long "dark time", my four and six year olds have gotten me back into it. I have seen many MOCs on brickshelf and personal websites, and am frankly humbled by what I see others creating. I have (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.build)
