Believe it or not, that is a real truck in operation by a private towing
company here locally. There are only 15 like it in the world. It was built
in Canada, then brought to our little part of the world in Southwest
Virginia. I watched this truck pick up a LOADED semi out of a small ravine
on interstate 81 one night after it plunged off of the bridge and dropped
about 50 ft on its side. (The 2 drivers, once we cut them out of the
sleeper; with a sawzall of all things, were ok)
I have seen it in training evolutions, pick cars up, raise them to around
70ft, swing them 360*, and set them back down again.
The company that has it does a lot of heavy towing, and is available to be
called upon if we (Fire Dept) gets into a pretty bad situation and needs it.
