Revision 2 of the main concourse is now complete.
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=6532
I changed from 4-wide to six wide for the sake of scale.
I went with bendy-arms for the jetways. Yes, they are round and not
rectangular, but I like their modular nature in fitting different size
aircraft. Two other types of jetways are still present, two using tubes and
chromed elbows, and one other using technic parts. Once I get enough
arm-pegs to convert all of them I will do so.
The roof is completely tiled with the exception of the air-handling
equipment (and 2 1x1 round plates, to smooth a corner)
I used old clear bricks as windows, and I striped the rest of the main floor
in white to create contrast.
Future revision may include an arched "tunnel" to allow ground service
equipment easy access from one side of the concourse to the other without
needing to drive all the way around. I may also throw in some off colored
bricks on the first level to add "doors" and the like.
Part of the problem working with this scale (1:400) is the lack of Lego
elements with fine enough details. In this scale a 1x1 brick represents an
almost 10 foot x 10 foot x 12 ft tall feature! A 1x1 plate is not much
better at 10x10x4!
I looked at using rods and the like (3 mm becomes about 1 meter in scale),
but I was not happy with early results. Time will tell.
